Lighting Workshop 4

For this assignment, I chose to light up the coliseum using a complimentary color scheme with orange lights contrasting the blue/purple skies and being mostly illuminated by the implied sunset and the hung lights. I wanted the ambience to be more cozy to contrast the type of typical bloodshed held in the arena. I based the lighting and feel off of these reference images:

Lighting Workshop 3

For this third assignment, I used the Car Preset from the given asset pack. I used a 3/4 front angle for the inside showcase shot and a 3/4 back angle for the outside shot. I wanted to keep an orange/yellow color scheme for the outside shot, but decided to use sunset lighting instead of assets that were yellow/orange in order to make that effect.

Lighting Workshop 2

For this lighting assignment, I wanted to do an interior scene. I figured a mining cave would be a great way to figure out how to balance the contrasting shadows and highlight objects in an appealing way while also showing an unsettling atmosphere.

Lighting Workshop 1

For this lighting assignment, I chose to work with both a bigger and smaller subject. I figured this would be helpful to determine what angles, how many lights, and their arrangement are necessary to light a silhouette properly. The bust was easier to figure out compared to the full-body statue which makes sense with how the lighting controls in Unreal Engine work with their specific apertures and gates.

Mario VR Week 6

This week I rigged the Lakitu and Chain Chomp models and added an idle animation loop to both of them. I also did window designs (4k resolution) in Photoshop for the scene. I had plans to animate the Dry Bones, but since we moved him to be at the very top of the scene, he doesn't need any animation as it will not be noticed by the player.

Mario VR Week 5

This week I worked on the bob-omb animations. I did a walkcycle for the bob-omb as well as a freakout animation for when it is picked up. I touched the lighting in the scene briefly, but haven't come up with anything that I like enough to go forward with. I also fixed the weight painting on Mario's glove so that the grommets on the back of it no longer float while moving. Moving forward, I will be focusing on finishing the animations for the other NPC characters once their models are finished and rigged.
